I had come to the same conclusion, partly inspired early on by your suspicions but partly on my own. That Ulric Maligi on the payroll? Hmmm. And if I run into Chris Ogden, I am not going to ask him anything about 'crooting.
However, the dawn of legal pay to play may save the day, as it were. Beard was not my choice, but I was not an AD faced with having to fill a new field house to justify its cost.
This is interesting. I will say that it’s hard for coaches not to get caught at this time. Right now, the NCAA is on high alert and watching every program like hawk. Take for example the recruiting violations committed by Arizona State Football. They have even caught Texas A&M football on small infractions committed by old coaches (not at A&M anymore) on Jimbo staff.
I will say watch out for players on your team. They are your best recruiters in hindsight. These players communicate with each other before players enter the portal. They give an outsider an insider’s view of the program. Players from other programs are communicating with each other right and left right now as we speak.

Ah, BWG, me boy, how we have missed ye! Excellent and intriguing insights spiced with, as always, make-me-laugh-out-loud cleverness. Thanks!
Watching Kai in Summer League and clips of Sims I have to wonder if they were underutilized last season.
