As someone who completely agrees that the conference tourney was dumb this year and was just hoping Texas got out of KC healthy, this was the most fun I’ve had watching Texas basketball in a long time. Such a fun group of guys to root for. I’m still buzzing over the win, but like you said, that was simply a fun game. Great words to cap the night.
Really happy for you and these guys and your faith in them and their faith in each other. Fun game to watch and the post-game joy was a treat for the heart. Such a fun night!
Great write-up. Thanks. I can't watch the games, so I follow along with ESPN Gamecast and the dulcet tones of Craig Way. Great win for Shaka and the team.
I always follow Craig Way instead of the TV audio unless one of the good guys like Fran or Jay are on our game. So later on I started watching the PAC chip game only to hear - BILL WALTON. I did not know how to find Craig Way for that game so I just cut the audio, but went to sleep at halftime, remembering that I was going to lose an hour over night.
It's amazing how much better some sports broadcasts can be with the sound turned off. I discovered that years ago with Sunday Night Football. They often had the best game of the day, but that announcing crew was beyond awful. Muting the game and listening to some jazz or classical music made it so much better.
Very fine recap of two games, the season, and what feels like a lifetime. It was good to see Brown cheering his teammates on as enthusiastically as the resident Alaskan. It is good that the addition of an effective two way playing Febres has offset the sometimes bewildering post COVID play of Ramey.
Kai's development as a sophomore from a freak athlete into a basketball player [and freak athlete] should encourage people around Greg Brown to tell him that the path to the lottery is through a second season at Texas. I don't think he will get more coaching attention in the developmental league than he will at Texas. Tell me if you think I am wrong about that.
Brock is so much fun to watch. I swear he will have the best defensive highlight film ever before he leaves Texas. And he knows how to throw an entry pass to Sims.
OK Lite is not a one man team but Cade is an absurdly good all around ballplayer. Like having Doncic or Paul George or Klay on your college team, perhaps.
The season has been played under a dark cloud. Still, I cannot erase my smile about tonight's game.
My favorite post-game moment was seeing Smart at a distance from the celebrating team on the floor, on his knee just watching the guys from a distance. He was taking the time to take it all in.

Saved one of your best pieces of writing for the one of the most special moments of texas basketball in my lifetime. Great stuff
Thank you
