I don't send out emails on non-basketball stuff, just post it here. I figure the people who sub to the emails are there for basketball so I'm not going to blast them with my non-sports writing. It's as close as I'll ever get to "sticking to sports".
So I got to thinking about basketball before you were born. When I was in college, one of the best jump shooters after West was Hal Greer. West was a lot like Steph, a marvel at almost any distance, but Greer was a midrange jump shooter who hit for high average out to the top of the key, and was deadly pulling up to shoot on the break.
He was also an 80%+ foul shooter.
And here's the thing: he shot jump shots for his foul shots, and claimed not doing so wasted an opportunity to practice his midrange jumper. I have always wondered why no one else ever, as far as I can recall, has done this.
Well, I had to come looking for this one because I received no email.
